Ischia is a beautiful island in the Gulf of Naples, about 30km from the city of Naples, and northeast of the island of Capri. It’s a volcanic island with many hot springs, thermal spas, gardens and beaches. In 2018 I spent 4 days on this island of paradise and I am excited to share my experience staying at Relais Bijoux, a boutique B&B.

A Boutique Experience
This is not a sponsored post. I paid for my hotel room, meals and activities while staying at the Relais Bijoux B&B. All opinions are my own, and are just that…opinions. Most photos are my own and photo credits have been given where not.
Staying at the Relais Bijoux –
The Hotel
Relais Bijoux is a boutique bed and breakfast on the island of Ischia off the west coast of Italy, about 30km east of the city of Naples. It’s tranquil setting, located up on a hill, overlooks the historic Castello Aragonese and the Gulf of Naples. The views really are amazing.
It’s white walls with blue accents are reminiscent of Santorini. The property is set in lush gardens, with little nooks here and there, where you can relax, curl up and read a book while sipping a glass of wine. On a hot day, the pool is perfect for cooling off. With pots of flowers at every turn and sweeping views, it’s the perfect place to escape the crowded beaches.
Quaint, with only 6 rooms, it feels like you are staying with family at a beautiful villa in the Mediterranean. Carlos, the owner, and Indyka the main ‘helper guy’, made us feel right at home. Whatever we needed, all we had to do was ask.

The Rooms
The rooms at the Relais Bijoux are spacious, bright and airy. Most, if not all rooms face the pool and sea, and have amazing views. The Mediterranean theme of the outside, carries through into the rooms with white ceramic tiled floors, crisp white linens and blue accents.
Did I mention the view!?!!
Our air conditioned room had a floor to ceiling window and glass door with direct access to the pool area. All rooms have a fridge, hairdryer, toiletries and daily housekeeping, as well as free wifi.

The Pool
The pool area is the perfect place to soak up the sun and unwind. It’s a beautiful space with umbrellas, lounge chairs and tables, and another spectacular view. It’s not a large pool, but then again the B&B is not large either so it was never crowded when we were there. The water is pretty cold but on a hot summer day it’s just what you need. That and a cold glass of wine or beer! Carlos or Indyka are always around to get you just what you need poolside.
I made fast friends with the resident cat of the Relais Bijoux. He took a liking to me and sat on my lounger with me while I soaked in the sun.

The Food
My favourite part of the day was breakfast with a view under the grape and vine covered palapa. The breakfast, which is included with your room, consists of pastries, croissants, hard boiled eggs, fruit, juice and coffee/tea. You could also have eggs cooked to your liking.
Although there is no restaurant per se, Carlos, the owner, was able to have a delicious caprese salad and bruschetta made for us while we lounged poolside. And of course poolside ‘beverages’ are available as well.
Carlos, often hosts dinner for all the guests. This is not included in the cost of your room, and is a little pricey at around 100Euros per couple however the 3 course dinners were absolutely fabulous. Our 1st dinner started with salad, then pasta with fresh clams. For desert was a chocolate lava cake. OMG! It was to die for. We drank wine and limoncello and made new friends with the other guests at the B & B. The 2nd dinner was more adventurous. Rabbit! It’s very popular on Ischia and although it’s not my ‘cup of tea’ I still had to try it. When in Rome!

Getting to the Hotel
The nearest airport is Naples on the mainland. From Naples you will need to take a ferry to Porto Ischia. The hotel is about 2km south of Porto Ischia. When you arrive on the island, Indyka, the main helper guy from the Relais Bijoux, will come pick you up from the port and take you to the property, saving on a (expensive) taxi ride. We didn’t know that and paid around 25Euros for a taxi. They charge extra because the road to Relais Bijoux is very narrow and difficult to navigate in some areas.
Overall
We had an incredible stay at the Relais Bijoux B&B. Without a doubt I would stay here on my next trip. It’s tranquility, views, and personalized service were just what we were looking for.
I hope you found this guide helpful. Would you stay at the Relais Bijoux?
Ciao for now!
